Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 1, 2026

Keeps is built and operated by Luke Marvin ("Keeps," "we," "us"). Keeps is a private space to remember the details that matter about the people in your life. Because that information is personal by nature, this policy is written to be specific and honest about what we handle, where it lives, and how to delete it.

The short version: Everything you record in Keeps is private to your account. We don't sell data, we don't show ads, and we never share your content with anyone except the service providers that run the app. Some features are powered by AI — the relevant content is processed by Anthropic's Claude API to deliver them, and neither we nor Anthropic use your content to train AI models. You can permanently delete your account and all of your data from inside the app at any time.

What we collect

Account information. When you create an account, we receive your email address and, if you sign in with Apple or Google, the name and email address that provider shares with us. Sign-in is handled by Clerk, our authentication provider, which assigns your account a user ID. If you use Sign in with Apple, you can choose to hide your real email address — that works fine with Keeps.

Content you create. The people you add and the memories, notes, dates, and details you record about them. This is the core of the app, and it is treated as private to you alone.

Crash and error data. If the app crashes or hits an error, we receive a technical report through Sentry (our crash-reporting service): device model, OS version, and what the app was doing when it failed. This is used only to find and fix bugs.

Usage analytics. We use PostHog to understand how the app is used — events like opening the app, adding a person, or adding a memory, along with basic device information (device model, OS version, app version). These events record that you did something, never what you wrote: the content of your people and memories is not included in analytics. We do not use session recording or screen capture. Analytics are tied to your account so we can understand things like whether Keeps stays useful to people over time.

Purchase information. If you buy a paid feature or subscription, the payment itself is handled entirely by Apple — we never receive your card number or billing details. We receive your purchase status (what you bought and when it renews or expires) through RevenueCat, so the app knows which features to unlock.

Server logs. Like nearly every online service, our servers keep short-lived technical logs (IP address, timestamps, and request information) for security and debugging. These are deleted on a rolling basis.

What we don't collect: your location, your phone's contacts, or advertising identifiers. There are no ads in Keeps and no advertising technology of any kind, and we never share or sell data for advertising.

About the people you record

Keeps is designed for you to store information about other people — friends, family, partners, colleagues. That information belongs to your private account. We never contact those people, never share what you've written, and never use it for advertising, profiling, or anything other than showing it back to you. You are the only person who can see it.

You are responsible for what you choose to record. Please only record information you'd be comfortable being responsible for.

How we use your data

We use the data above to:

We do not sell your data, share it with data brokers, use it for advertising, or use your content to train AI models.

AI features

Keeps uses AI to extract and separate facts from user note entries. When you use these features, the relevant content — the text of your entry and the names and relationships you've saved — is sent from our server to Anthropic's Claude API, processed to generate the result, and returned to you. That is the only reason your content is ever sent to an AI provider.

Under Anthropic's commercial terms, API inputs and outputs are not used to train Anthropic's models, and Anthropic does not retain them beyond limited operational and safety windows. You can read Anthropic's data policies at privacy.claude.com.

Service providers

A small number of companies process data on our behalf, strictly to provide their service to us:

Provider What they do What they handle
Clerk Sign-in and account management Email, name, user ID
Railway Hosts our database (United States) Your account content
Sentry Crash reporting Technical crash data
PostHog Usage analytics Actions taken in the app, device info — never memory content
RevenueCat Purchase and subscription management Purchase history and subscription status
Anthropic AI processing (Claude API) Content involved in an AI request
Apple App distribution, Sign in with Apple Per Apple's own policies

We don't share your data with anyone else, except if required by law.

Storage and security

Your data is stored on servers in the United States. All connections between the app and our servers are encrypted (HTTPS). Every request to our servers verifies your identity server-side before returning any data, and the database is backed up automatically so your memories aren't lost to a technical failure.

No system is perfectly secure, but given the personal nature of what Keeps stores, security is treated as a core feature, not an afterthought.

Retention and deletion

We keep your data for as long as your account exists.

To delete everything: open Settings → Delete Account inside the app. This permanently deletes your sign-in account with Clerk and erases every person, memory, and detail you've stored from our database. Deleted data also ages out of our automated backups within 30 days as backups rotate.

You can also email us at the address below and we'll delete your account for you.

Children

Keeps is not intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If we learn we have, we'll delete it.

Where Keeps is available

Keeps is currently offered in the United States.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the effective date above. For material changes, we'll notify you in the app.
